Hyderabad: Justice Sudarshan Reddy, the opposition’s Vice President candidate, said he was contesting not as the INDIA bloc nominee but as the candidate of all opposition parties. He made the remarks while addressing his formal introduction event at Taj Krishna Hotel in Hyderabad, attended by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, ministers, and alliance leaders.
‘Fighting to defend the Constitution’
Sudarshan Reddy said he was stepping into the Vice President elections solely to safeguard the Constitution. “Many asked me why I chose to wear the thorny crown of politics. But I have not entered politics, I am not a member of any party, and I never will be. My fight is for civil rights and social justice,” he asserted.
He recalled that AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, though not part of the INDIA bloc, had extended support to his candidature, showing that his appeal went beyond alliance lines.
INDIA bloc event in Hyderabad
The program was organised by the INDIA bloc to introduce Reddy to leaders and supporters. CM Revanth Reddy and ministers present at the event urged Telugu leaders across parties to extend support, saying it was an opportunity for a Telugu leader to play a decisive role at the national level.
