Hyderabad: Sudden rain disrupted life in many parts of Hyderabad and several Telangana districts on Wednesday afternoon. Commuters struggled as waterlogged streets slowed traffic and caused inconvenience across the city.
Rain fell in areas including Yousufguda, Madhuranagar, Amberpet, SR Nagar, Panjagutta, Erragadda, Sanathnagar, Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, and Nampally. The Old City also received showers in Malakpet, Saidabad, Saroor Nagar, Santoshnagar, Bahadurpura, Kishan Bagh, Purana Pul, and near the Zoo Park.
Yellow alert Telangana: IMD forecasts more rain and thunderstorms
The India Meteorological Department warned of more rain and thunderstorms in southern Hyderabad. It advised residents in Shaikpet, Asifnagar, Nampally, Mehdipatnam, Rajendranagar, Charminar, Saidabad, Saroor Nagar, and LB Nagar to stay prepared.
The IMD issued a yellow alert across Telangana until September 14. It forecast widespread rain, lightning, and gusty winds in most districts. Only Gadwal, Wanaparthy, and Nagarkurnool are exempt from the alert.
For Hyderabad, the forecast includes consistent rainfall through Saturday. The IMD has flagged September 12 and 13 as particularly high-risk days. Officials also reported a dip in temperatures across the state
