Hyderabad: Sultan Bazar police bust interstate shutter-lifting gang of six and recovered ₹8 lakh in stolen cash along with six mobile phones. The gang broke into a mobile shop in Gujarathi Galli, Koti, on the night of August 3–4 and escaped with ₹9 lakh.
The accused are Jaisa Ram (32), Nagaji Ram (30), Lilaram (31), Laxmanaram alias Shravan (34), Jabara Ram (34), and Parasaram (30). Most belong to Jalore district in Rajasthan, while some live in Gujarat and Hyderabad.
According to investigators, A6 Parasaram tipped off A1 Jaisa Ram about cash stored in Laxmi Mobiles on Sundays. Acting on the tip, A1 to A5 travelled by train from Rajasthan and Gujarat on August 3, checked into Honest Lodge at Dilsukhnagar, and conducted a recce. That night, they broke the grill and shutter locks and took the cash from the counter.
Shop owner Masara Ram Devasi discovered the theft the next morning and filed a complaint. Police registered the case (Cr.No.174/2025, Sec 331(4), 305 BNS) and, following DCP East Zone’s instructions, a special team led by Detective Inspector P. Dharma Rao analysed CCTV footage. Using the footage and other leads, the team tracked the suspects to Honest Lodge and arrested them on August 10.
During interrogation, the accused admitted to the theft. Police recovered ₹8 lakh in cash and six mobile phones. Officers said A1 to A3 were earlier involved in a ₹5.79 crore jewellery theft in Maharashtra (Cr.No.1182/2024, Naupada PS) and A1 was linked to a 2021 attention diversion case in Nizamabad.
DCP Dr. B. Balaswamy, IPS, praised the swift action. Addl. DCP J. Narsaiah, ACP M. Mattaiah, and SHO K. Narasimha supervised the operation. The officers will receive rewards for their work.
