Hyderabad: The Supreme Court on Tuesday adjourned the hearing in the high-profile Telangana phone tapping case to December 9, following the absence of legal counsel representing key accused and former Intelligence Chief Prabhakar Rao.
The bench, headed by Justice B.V. Nagarathna, postponed proceedings after Rao’s advocate failed to appear in court. The Telangana government had earlier filed a plea seeking the cancellation of Prabhakar Rao’s anticipatory bail in connection with the case.
Government counsel argued that Rao destroyed key digital evidence related to the case and refused to share passwords for his devices, thereby obstructing the investigation. They alleged that he failed to cooperate with the inquiry despite repeated directions.
In an earlier hearing, the Supreme Court had instructed Prabhakar Rao to reset his iCloud password in the presence of forensic experts to aid the probe. The case continues to draw attention due to its political and legal implications within the state.
