Hyderabad: Telangana PCC president and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud on Thursday hailed the Supreme Court’s interim order on the Bihar voter deletions controversy as a landmark for democracy.
The apex court directed the Election Commission to publish, within 48 hours, the names of 65 lakh voters removed from the rolls in the state’s Special Summary Revision (SIR). Mahesh Goud said the ruling vindicated Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s allegations of large-scale vote theft.
He criticised the Centre for ignoring Rahul Gandhi’s demand for a parliamentary debate on the issue. Mahesh Goud urged the Election Commission to respond to Rahul Gandhi’s call for implementing an Aadhaar-linked “one person – one vote” system to prevent voter fraud like deletion of voters in Bihar.
