Hyderabad: Telangana’s T-Fiber pilot villages gained national recognition as a model for rural broadband at the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025, held at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi. Union Minister for Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia lauded the initiative and urged other States to emulate Telangana’s success.
Describing it as a “role model,” Scindia praised State IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu for delivering last-mile digital access across rural regions. He also encouraged Telangana to assist other States in launching similar pilot villages.
Speaking at the IT Ministers’ round table, Sridhar Babu reaffirmed Telangana’s full commitment to national digital goals. He pledged to support the Centre in accelerating BharatNet, resolving Right of Way (RoW) hurdles, and boosting cyber security efforts.
“Digital equity is the foundation of inclusive growth,” Sridhar Babu stated. He noted that the State continues to bridge the rural–urban digital gap through the T-Fiber programme.
He also outlined how the project connects homes, schools, offices, and health centres to high-speed internet. Venu Prasad Panneeru, Managing Director of T-Fiber, joined him and presented data-driven results from the pilot villages.
Together, they demonstrated that fibre connectivity significantly expands access to e-governance services, online education, healthcare, and digital entrepreneurship. The T-Fiber model aligns with Digital India and BharatNet Phase III and has earned broad appreciation for its measurable outcomes.
IMC 2025, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, brought together policy leaders and tech experts to highlight innovations in telecom and digital infrastructure.
