The incident occurred while the boy was returning home from school and stepped into stagnant rainwater that had become electrically charged due to a fallen power line. He began convulsing and struggling for life in full public view.
While many passersby hesitated to intervene out of fear, Kannan stepped forward without hesitation and risked his own life to save the boy. His courageous action prevented what could have been a tragic loss of life.
