Hyderabad: The Union government has announced gallantry and service medals for 1,090 police, fire service, home guard, civil defence, and correctional services personnel across the country on the eve of Independence Day. The honours include 233 Gallantry Medals (GM), 99 President’s Distinguished Service Medals (PSM), and 758 Medals for Meritorious Service (MSM).
Telangana secured 20 medals, including one gallantry award for Constable Katravat Rajunayak. The PSM recipients from the state are Assistant Sub-Inspector Siddayya Mayatari and Head Constable Hussain Nidamanuri.
Senior officers, fire personnel among awardees
MSM recipients include DCPs Nallamala Ravi, Togaru Karunakar, and J. Sheikh Shameer; Commandant Putta Devidaas; Armed Police Sub-Inspectors Mekala Abraham, Shinde Prakash, Mudavat Dasharath, and Ramdularsingh; ASIs Mohammed Moizuddin, Rajesuni Srinivasulu, and Rudra Krishnakumar.
Four Telangana Fire Services personnel also received medals: Leading Fireman B. Gopal Reddy (Jammikunta Station, Karimnagar), Leading Fireman Mohammed Waheedullah Khan (Metpalli Station, Jagtial), Leading Fireman T. Nagesh (Mulugu Station, Mulugu), and Leading Fireman Md. Sadiq (Bhadrachalam Station, Bhadradri Kothagudem).
