Hyderabad: Telangana has crossed a major milestone in its flagship women’s free bus travel scheme, surpassing 200 crore zero-ticket journeys within 18 months of its launch.
The state government hailed the scheme’s success as a significant step in public-oriented governance, with officials and leaders celebrating its sustained impact on women commuters across the state.
Congratulating the beneficiaries, the government extended appreciation to the women of Telangana who made use of the initiative. Special recognition was also given to RTC workers, staff, and management for their role in seamlessly implementing the policy.
The free bus travel scheme has been lauded as one of the most widely availed public welfare programmes in recent memory, especially aiding working women, students, and daily commuters in rural and urban areas alike.
