Hyderabad: Telangana’s Anti-Corruption Bureau has recorded 122 trap cases in the last six months, overtaking the state’s total for all of 2024. ACB officials confirmed the figure in internal reports, noting a spike in the number of government employees caught accepting bribes.
According to officials, the bureau has been receiving complaints from remote areas and acting on them without delay. In most cases, officers have arrested the accused on the spot while they were accepting money from the public.
The data shows that, on average, at least three government officials are being caught daily across the state. ACB teams have intensified surveillance and field operations, with dozens of public servants booked under corruption charges since January.
Last year, the bureau registered 129 trap cases. This year’s numbers have already exceeded that figure with six months remaining. Over a hundred government employees are among those caught red-handed so far, most of them in lower and mid-level administrative roles.
Analysts say the rise in arrests has triggered public concern over the scale of corruption in government offices. Several observers have flagged the trend as a serious threat to institutional credibility.
