Hyderabad: Telangana activist Nagavath Rajesh Nayak joined Telangana Jagruthi on Monday after leaving the BRS, alleging that the party had sidelined original contributors to the statehood movement.
At a brief event in Banjara Hills, Jagruthi president Kalvakuntla Kavitha welcomed Nayak with a shawl. She recalled their shared involvement in the Telangana agitation and said Jagruthi would continue to promote unity and cultural identity.

Nayak, a former chairman of the Jayashankar Bhupalpally District Library Corporation, said he made the decision after Kavitha urged activists to come together. “I responded when my sister called for the unity of Telangana activists,” he said.
He revealed that he had sold personal property to fund his activism during the statehood movement. However, he said the BRS ignored such efforts and instead rewarded defectors from rival parties. “We gave everything to the cause, but the party forgot us,” Nayak said.
Jagruthi leaders L. Roop Singh Nayak, Naveen Achari, Ismail, Sampath Goud, Kolla Srinivas, Srikanth Goud, and Panduranga Reddy were present during the programme.
