Hyderabad: The Telangana government is weighing new AI-based tools for agriculture, following a presentation by Netherlands-based firm ARIQT on real-time advisory systems and pest detection technology.
Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao met ARIQT representatives at the Secretariat on Thursday. The company demonstrated a platform that uses artificial intelligence to provide farmers with instant responses and farming guidance, including pest identification via mobile phone cameras.
Company officials expressed interest in partnering with the state to deploy the technology on the ground. They highlighted the potential of mobile-based detection systems to assist farmers in identifying crop infestations in real time.
Minister Tummala said the proposals would be reviewed by the agriculture department, and their integration into existing schemes would depend on technical validation. He directed officials to assess the feasibility of incorporating the system into current government initiatives.
Principal Secretary (Agriculture) Raghunandan Rao, Agriculture Director Gopi and other senior department officials were present at the meeting.
