Hyderabad: Telangana Minister for IT and Industries Duddilla Sridhar Babu on Monday pledged to extend AI-powered citizen services to one crore people by 2027. He said the State’s priority is to create a public service model that is proactive, responsive, and technology-driven.
He spoke at the inauguration of a three-day officer training programme at Dr. MCR HRD Institute in Jubilee Hills. The event, titled “AI-led Digital Transformation – Champions & Catalysts Programme,” was hosted by the IT Department’s Emerging Technologies Wing.
Sridhar Babu said the government is pursuing an “AI-first” model that predicts public needs. “We want citizen services to reach people before they even ask,” he said. According to him, Telangana is working to build a $5 billion AI economy that will generate thousands of jobs.
To achieve that goal, the State is developing key infrastructure: an AI City, an AI University, and the Telangana AI Innovation Hub. All three are being built to international standards, he noted.
Moreover, Telangana pioneered the AI-based Telangana Data Exchange (TGDeX), which other states are now studying as a model. Building on this success, the government will roll out over 300 AI-powered services across 20 departments.
To support this shift, the State selected 250 officials for specialised AI training. Over the next three months, AI professionals will mentor them on integrating new technologies into governance.
Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, Special Chief Secretary Sanjay Kumar, and Deputy Secretary Bhavesh Mishra also attended the event alongside senior officials.
