Hyderabad: With continuous heavy rainfall disrupting life in Hyderabad, the Telangana government has moved into high-alert mode. Ponnam Prabhakar, Minister for Transport and BC Welfare and incharge minister for Hyderabad District, has issued urgent instructions to senior officials overseeing city operations.
He appealed to residents in low-lying areas to remain vigilant and urged them to report any difficulties directly to local authorities. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is personally monitoring the situation, he said.
Officials from GHMC, the District Collector’s office, HYDRAA, Water Works, police, and emergency services have all been directed to coordinate swiftly.
According to Ponnam, 141 known waterlogging points are being actively managed, and field teams are clearing blocked drains and ensuring flow continuity to avoid localised flooding.
GHMC, Revenue, and police departments are on standby to respond to any emergencies. Citizens have been asked not to panic and to communicate promptly with officials in case of water stagnation or property damage.
