Telangana announces ₹5 lakh ex-gratia, delegation to Saudi after bus tragedy

Hyderabad: The Telangana Cabinet on Monday approved ₹5 lakh ex-gratia for each family of the victims who died in the recent bus tragedy near Madinah, Saudi Arabia, which claimed the lives of several Hyderabad pilgrims.

Official delegation, kin to travel to Saudi Arabia

The Cabinet also decided to send a government team to Saudi Arabia, led by Minority Welfare Minister Mohammed Azharuddin. An AIMIM MLA and a senior Minority Welfare Department official will join the delegation. Two family members of each deceased pilgrim will also be taken to Saudi Arabia to oversee final rites.

Authorities confirmed that the last rites of all deceased pilgrims will be conducted in Saudi Arabia, in line with the wishes of many families and religious customs.

State ensures coordinated support for bereaved families

The Cabinet held its meeting at the Secretariat and resolved to extend all possible support. This follows growing appeals from community leaders and affected families seeking swift action, dignified arrangements, and direct assistance.
