Hyderabad: Telangana has sanctioned social pensions for 681 additional dialysis patients, pushing the total number of beneficiaries receiving State support beyond 4,700.
Panchayat Raj and Women and Child Welfare Minister Danasari Anasuya Seethakka approved the latest batch of sanctions, signed off under the State’s health-linked social security scheme. Officials said the new approvals reflect the government’s ongoing effort to ease the financial pressure on patients battling chronic kidney failure.
Before the current administration, 4,011 dialysis patients were receiving pensions. Since then, 4,029 new beneficiaries were added. With the latest clearances, the figure stands at 4,710.
The new cases were vetted by the Arogyasri Health Care Trust, which carried out the eligibility checks. Final approvals were processed through the Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP).
Of the 681 sanctioned patients, 629 are undergoing treatment in Hyderabad, while 52 are being treated in other districts. Officials said the data underscores Hyderabad’s central role in providing dialysis care across Telangana.
Pensions were cleared based on verified disability and reduced earning capacity, a senior official said. Disbursement for the newly approved cases will begin next month.
