HYDERABAD: Governor Jishnu Dev Varma prorogued both the Telangana Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council on Sunday, officially concluding their previous sessions. This procedural step enables the government to initiate new sessions, including the upcoming budget session expected in the second week of March.
The prorogation of Telangana Assembly fulfills technical requirements for commencing the budget session, which is set to begin with the Governor’s address. The previous sessions of both houses were adjourned in December, and their prorogation now allows for the convening of fresh sessions.
Following the prorogation, the state government is expected to accelerate preparations for the budget session. The session is likely to include key legislative discussions, such as the approval of the state budget and the passage of the Backward Classes (BC) Reservations Bill.
Prorogation is a standard legislative procedure that marks the formal conclusion of one session, facilitating the initiation of another. This ensures the smooth progression of legislative activities and allows for the introduction of new agendas in the forthcoming sessions.
