Hyderabad: A new joint action committee, the Telangana BC JAC, has been formed under the leadership of BC organisations to intensify the fight for 42% reservation for backward classes in the state. The committee will be chaired by R. Krishnaiah, with V.G. Naragoni as vice chairman.
The organisers have also constituted a six-member core committee to steer the movement. Speaking at the launch, R. Krishnaiah said the agitation would grow stronger in Telangana to create pressure on the Centre. He questioned the legal grounds for the High Court’s stay on 42% BC quota implementation.
Krishnaiah said the stay was improper since the election notification had already been issued. He criticised the continued injustice meted out to backward classes over the past 76 years and noted that the recent developments amounted to both injustice and humiliation.
