HYDERABAD: Telangana BC ministers and senior Congress leaders met with Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi in Parliament to press for the implementation of enhanced BC reservations and inclusion of the proposed legislation in the Constitution’s 9th Schedule.
Led by TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, the delegation included BC ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Konda Surekha, MP Anil Yadav, government whips Adi Srinivas and Beerla Ilaiah, as well as several MLAs, MLCs, and other senior party figures from Telangana.
During the meeting with the Congress leadership, Mahesh Kumar Goud and the ministers briefed Rahul Gandhi on recent political developments, including the unanimous passage of the Telangana BC Classification Bill in the State Assembly and the public demonstration by BC associations held at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.
The TPCC chief urged the Congress leadership to ensure that the bill, which aims to increase BC reservations to 42%, is placed under the 9th Schedule of the Constitution to protect it from judicial scrutiny and ensure its full implementation.
Later, the delegation also met with AICC leader Sonia Gandhi in the Parliament Hall, reiterating their appeal for constitutional backing and national-level support for Telangana’s BC welfare and reservation initiatives.
