Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president Ramchander Rao on Monday launched a sharp counterattack against Congress leaders over their allegations of “vote theft.” Speaking to the media, he said it was not a case of vote theft but a case of “brain theft” of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
Rao accused the Congress of conspiring to derail local body elections in the state and declared that the BJP was ready to allot 46 percent of seats to Backward Classes (BCs). However, he made it clear that Muslims would not be recognised as BCs under any circumstances.
BJP chief targets Congress over unfulfilled promises
The BJP leader alleged that the ruling Congress was trying to divert public attention from its failure to implement promises. He listed several commitments made during the elections ₹2,500 monthly allowance for women, job notifications for unemployed youth, distribution of one tola gold with ₹1 lakh assistance for poor women, and enhanced pensions that he said had not been fulfilled.
Rao accused the government of betraying people by letting these promises “sink in the Ganga.” He challenged Congress leaders to first deliver on their manifesto assurances before levelling allegations against others.
Predicts BJP rise in Telangana
Asserting that people had lost trust in the Congress, Ramchander Rao said the BJP was confident of coming to power in Telangana whenever elections were held. “The Congress has no credibility left. When elections are announced, BJP will surely form the government,” he predicted.
