HYDERABAD: A 70-year-old woman was murdered on suspicion of practicing black magic, and three individuals have been arrested for the crime in Telangana’s Jayashankar Bhupalpally district. The incident took place in Garmillapalli village, where the accused allegedly killed the elderly woman and fled with her gold ornaments.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sampath Rao, the victim, identified as Veeramma, went missing after leaving her home. Later, her body was found in an agricultural well. Following a complaint from her relatives, the police registered a case, stating that unknown attackers were responsible for the murder.
On February 19, three individuals—identified as Mallayya, Srinivas, and Sudhakar—surrendered to the police. During interrogation, it was revealed that Mallayya suspected Veeramma of practicing black magic and believed she was responsible for his daughter’s illness. Convinced of this, he sought the help of his relatives to eliminate her.
The police disclosed that on the day of the crime, the three accused lured Veeramma to a deserted location and murdered her. After killing her, they stole two tolas of gold and 30 tolas of gold jewelry from her.
