HYDERABAD: The Telangana state government has presented its annual budget for 2025-26, with a special focus on welfare initiatives, including a significant increase in allocations for backward classes (BCs). Finance Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, representing the Congress government, unveiled a budget of ₹3,04,965 crore in the Legislative Assembly.
According to the budget estimates, Telangana’s per capita income for 2024-25 is projected at ₹3,79,751. The government has earmarked ₹2,26,982 crore for revenue expenditure and ₹36,504 crore for capital expenditure.
A key highlight of this budget is the allocation for the BC Welfare Department, which has been raised to ₹11,405 crore. This marks a substantial increase from the previous allocation under the BRS government, which had allotted only ₹6,229 crore for BC Welfare in the 2023-24 budget. The Congress government, presenting its first annual budget, has emphasized its commitment to the upliftment of backward classes by significantly boosting funds for their welfare programs.

The budget reflects the Congress government’s policy priorities, with a major focus on social welfare, agriculture, education, and economic development. The increase in funds for BC Welfare is expected to support various schemes aimed at empowering backward communities through education, employment, and financial assistance.
