Telangana cabinet to review Kaleshwaram commission report recommending action on ex-CM and ministers
Hyderabad: The Telangana cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, is set to meet at 2 p.m. today at the Secretariat to deliberate on the Justice P. Chandra Ghose Commission report on the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project.
The report, spanning 650 pages, has reportedly recommended criminal prosecution against former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and ex-ministers T. Harish Rao and Etela Rajender for violations and alleged corruption during the execution of the ₹1-lakh crore project. The commission concluded that the project was undertaken in complete violation of norms.
Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, ministers, Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao, government whips, and advisors will attend the meeting. Ahead of the session, a briefing committee—comprising Legal Secretary Tirupati, GAD Secretary Naveen Mittal, and Irrigation Special Secretary Prashant Jeevan Patil—submitted a summary report to CS Ramakrishna Rao based on their study of the commission’s findings.
The cabinet will consider possible action against the named individuals, including legal and institutional steps. Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy is expected to present a detailed PowerPoint on the findings. Ministers will also discuss whether the full report should be tabled in the Assembly.
