Hyderabad: Uncertainty loomed over Friday’s scheduled Telangana cabinet meeting as Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and several ministers remained in Delhi for a series of engagements linked to BC reservations and caste census.
Though the government had made arrangements for the cabinet session to be held at 4 p.m. at the Secretariat, officials said Thursday night that CM Revanth Reddy was expected to attend another event in Delhi on Friday. The programme, hosted by OBC organisations, will focus on the BC reservation bill and caste enumeration, and has reportedly invited the Chief Minister and BC ministers.
Sources indicated that if Revanth Reddy decides to stay back for the Delhi programme, the cabinet meeting may be deferred. If he returns to Hyderabad in time and instructs BC ministers to represent the government at the Delhi event, the meeting could proceed with some absentees.
Government insiders are also considering whether the Delhi programme can conclude early enough for the CM to return and hold the cabinet session, possibly with a delay. A final decision was pending as of Thursday night.
