Hyderabad: Telangana’s recently completed Socio-Economic Caste Survey has drawn national attention for its inclusive, data-driven approach, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said on Tuesday.
Addressing a press conference at the Secretariat, Bhatti said the survey’s methodology now dubbed the “Telangana Model” was transparent, scientific, and designed to guide equitable policymaking.
He credited Congress leader Rahul Gandhi with the original idea behind the survey, saying it was his vision that led to its implementation in Telangana. Bhatti added that the initiative had influenced discussions at the national level, with the Centre now considering the inclusion of caste data in the upcoming national census.
A high-level Telangana delegation led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will visit New Delhi on Thursday to brief Congress central leadership on the survey’s modalities and outcomes. The team, which includes Bhatti and other senior ministers, will also meet Members of Parliament across party lines to build support for a bill enabling caste data inclusion in the national census.
Bhatti said the state government remains committed to advancing social justice and development through evidence-based governance.
Telangana’s caste survey stands out for its scientific and transparent approach, and we feel proud that it’s now gaining attention across the country.
🔹 The credit truly goes to Rahul Gandhi Garu, whose vision inspired this initiative.
