HYDERABAD: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) C Sudharshan Reddy convened a meeting with representatives of various political parties on Tuesday to discuss ongoing efforts to purify electoral rolls ahead of upcoming elections.
The CEO outlined initiatives to improve the accuracy of voter lists, including measures to address discrepancies and ensure a robust electoral framework. He invited suggestions from the attendees, which included establishing polling booths in gated communities, linking Aadhaar with voter IDs, and removing deceased voters from the rolls.
CEO Reddy also provided an overview of the legal framework governing voter enrollment, additions, and deletions. He emphasized the importance of registering first-time voters aged 17-18 and sought the cooperation of political parties in this effort.
Representatives from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) attended the meeting.
