HYDERABAD: The combing operation against Maoists in the Karragutta forest region, located along the Telangana-Chhattisgarh border, entered its sixth day with full intensity. Security forces are conducting large-scale operations to detect Maoist presence across the vast forested area.
According to sources, three M-17 helicopters have been deployed to assist with surveillance and logistics throughout the region. Additionally, dozens of drones are being extensively used to monitor Maoist movements.
On Saturday night, security forces made a significant breakthrough when they discovered a large secret tunnel within the Karragutta forests. Reports indicate that the tunnel is expansive enough to shelter nearly a thousand individuals at once. Officials stated that the tunnel was equipped with basic facilities, including water supply, suggesting that it was constructed for long-term occupation.
Security forces have hailed the discovery of the tunnel as a major success in the ongoing operation against the Maoists. They have intensified search operations around the tunnel to prevent any suspicious activities in the vicinity.
Sources also revealed that additional forces are being mobilised, and there are plans to completely clear the Karragutta forest area over the coming days.
Security officials have appealed to the public to report any suspicious movements immediately to the nearest police station or security personnel.
