Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao on Friday visited Shamshabad Municipal Corporation to assess civic infrastructure and services in rapidly developing municipalities around Hyderabad.
The visit was conducted on the Chief Minister’s direction to ensure improved delivery of municipal services to residents. Rao was accompanied by Ranga Reddy District Collector C. Narayana Reddy and officials from various departments.
The Chief Secretary said the visit was aimed at reviewing development in villages located near and beyond the Outer Ring Road (ORR), many of which were recently merged into the GHMC limits. Shamshabad was the first among them to be inspected.
Reviewing drinking water supply, the Collector said estimates were being prepared to lay new pipelines in recently developed colonies, and funds were being released to panchayats and municipalities to ensure water availability across the district.
On municipal revenues, Rao noted a 23 percent shortfall in tax collection this year and instructed officials to meet targets by completing new house assessments and improving collections. He also reviewed sanitation, urged officials to prevent public complaints, and inquired into the progress of Indiramma housing.
The Chief Secretary directed departments to ensure proper street lighting and drain maintenance, with emphasis on minimizing public inconvenience.
He later visited the under-construction HMDA Eco Park at Kotwalguda, where he noted the variety of exotic birds and garden landscaping. The team also inspected government lands in Budvel, Rajendranagar.
The visit included Municipal Principal Secretary Ilambarthi, HMDA Secretary Sarfaraz Ahmad, Additional Collector Pratima Singh, RDO Venkat Reddy, PD Housing Naik, and other officials.
