Hyderabad: After months of delays, the Telangana government has finally greenlit long-pending promotions for school teachers, with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy signing off on the file. An official schedule is expected within the next two days.
Roughly 2,000 teachers across the state stand to benefit from the move, including Secondary Grade Teachers (SGTs) and School Assistants. With over 1.10 lakh teachers serving in government schools, the demand for promotions and transfers had been growing louder, largely due to a backlog caused by court cases that stalled proceedings since late last year.
In Multi-Zone 1, the last round of promotions, headmaster posts included, took place back in September–October 2023. Multi-Zone 2 followed in June–July this year, but several posts were still left vacant, mostly due to retirements and pending administrative issues.
With the latest go-ahead, those vacancies are finally on track to be filled, bringing long-awaited relief to hundreds of educators who’ve been waiting in limbo.
