HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi to discuss a range of crucial state-related issues.
Accompanied by Minister Sridhar Babu, the Chief Minister sought the Centre’s support on matters such as legal backing for Backward Classes (BC) reservations, conducting a caste census, and the categorization of Scheduled Castes (SC).
Expansion of Hyderabad Metro and Infrastructure Development
During the meeting, CM Revanth Reddy presented a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the second phase expansion of the Hyderabad Metro Rail Corridor. The proposed extension aims to enhance metro connectivity to suburban areas, including a 22 km track linking Shamshabad International Airport with the upcoming Future City in Mucherla. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC), and Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) are jointly conducting surveys for this project.
Additionally, the Chief Minister sought central assistance for several major infrastructure projects, including the rejuvenation of the Musi River, the development of Future City, and the Regional Ring Road (RRR) project. He emphasized the need for funds to complete pending state projects and address unresolved issues from the State Reorganisation Act.
Update on SLBC Rescue Operations
CM Revanth Reddy also briefed PM Modi on the ongoing rescue efforts at the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC), where workers remain trapped following a tunnel collapse. He provided updates on the measures being taken to safely extricate those inside, highlighting the challenges faced by rescue teams.
The meeting underscores Telangana’s commitment to securing central support for key development projects and addressing critical state issues through collaboration with the Union government.
