Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy approved ₹60 crore from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) for welfare hostels across the State. The amount will cover urgent needs in BC, SC, ST, and Minority Welfare Hostels, including diet charges, temporary staff pay, and vehicle repairs.
CM reviews Telangana welfare hostels and digital upgrades
At a high-level meeting held at the ICCC, the Chief Minister handed over cheques to senior officials and reviewed hostel welfare measures. He directed departments to prioritise hostel maintenance and install facial recognition systems for students and staff to ensure accountability.
Officials were told to maintain digital records and enable real-time monitoring of hostel activities. In addition, the Chief Minister urged the use of mobile apps to track food quality, ensure balanced meals, and check calorie levels regularly.
Focus on infrastructure, health, and education reforms
Revanth Reddy asked departments to distribute uniforms and textbooks on time. He also ordered uploading all infrastructure and maintenance details on a central digital dashboard for constant supervision.
Health linkages formed a key part of the review. Welfare hostels will connect with government and private medical colleges, community health centres, and hospitals. Regular health camps and the presence of doctors during emergencies are mandatory. Moreover, District Collectors and Additional Collectors must inspect hostels frequently to ensure quality services.
State to frame a detailed welfare action plan
Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao and Principal Secretary (Welfare) Sabyasachi Ghosh were directed to prepare a comprehensive plan. It will include scholarships, staff salaries, diet charges, construction, maintenance, and monthly operational costs.
The Chief Minister urged officials to tap Centrally Sponsored Schemes and release State funds quickly. He proposed a 24×7 medical helpline, EdTech tools for exam preparation, and mobile apps to monitor healthcare and education. Furthermore, he instructed departments to highlight positive initiatives on social media and counter misinformation promptly.
Earlier, Principal Secretary Sabyasachi Ghosh presented a report on hostel conditions. BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, SC, ST and Minority Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar, CM’s Advisor Vem Narender Reddy, Government Advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir, and senior officials attended the meeting.
