Hyderabad: TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud has objected to remarks made by Revenue Minister P. Srinivas Reddy concerning local body elections, calling them premature and unvetted.
Goud said statements on issues of electoral sensitivity should first be discussed in the cabinet. Public comments, he said, must not be made unilaterally. He emphasised that no minister or leader should issue declarations without prior internal consultation, warning that such actions risk sparking internal dissent.
He also noted that ministers must avoid commenting on matters currently under judicial consideration. Goud advised ministers to confine public statements to subjects relevant to their departments and to exercise caution while addressing legally sensitive issues.
The objection follows Srinivas Reddy’s comments during a visit to Khammam, where he reportedly spoke about timelines and specifics of upcoming local elections. Goud has taken strong exception to the disclosure.
Congress leadership is understood to have since directed ministers and senior leaders to avoid public remarks on such matters without clearance.
