Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday announced a Dasara bonus for Singareni workers, saying the government would share 34 percent of company profits with employees.
Telangana announces Dasara bonus for 71,000 Singareni workers
Revanth Reddy, joined by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and other ministers, said each permanent employee will get ₹1,95,610 as a bonus. He made the announcement during a press conference in Hyderabad with several ministers present.
Bhatti Vikramarka said the government will also pay bonuses to contract workers and called it the first such move in the country’s history.
Revanth Reddy said Singareni Collieries will distribute ₹819 crore among 41,000 permanent employees. He added that 30,000 contract workers will each get ₹5,500. Coal India, he said, will release its annual bonus by Diwali.
The Chief Minister assured continued support for Singareni workers. He criticised the Centre for GST reforms that, he argued, reduced state revenues. “The Centre must compensate states for lost income. It cannot impose a burden unilaterally. For the next five years, it should provide a viability gap fund,” Revanth said.
