Hyderabad: Former Minister and BRS MLA T Harish Rao claimed that Telangana had slipped into deflation, calling it a warning of “economic collapse” under the Congress government. In a post on X, he accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s administration of pushing the state into distress through poor financial planning and reckless governance.
Harish Rao flags deflation trend in Telangana
Harish Rao said India’s retail inflation had eased to an eight-year low of 1.5 per cent. Telangana, however, recorded deflation in three of the last four months. He shared data showing deflation of –0.93 % in June, –0.44 % in July, and –0.15 % in September.
According to him, September normally brings strong consumer demand during Bathukamma and Dussehra. Therefore, it should have shown positive inflation. “Instead, prices fell further, proving the collapse of demand and failure of state policies,” he said.
‘Policy paralysis deformed the economy’
Harish Rao said the deflation reflected deep policy paralysis and poor economic management. Moreover, he blamed “vendetta-driven governance” for weakening local markets and slowing growth. “The Congress government has pushed Telangana into a dangerous downward spiral,” he said.
He also warned that citizens were now paying the price for the administration’s lack of economic vision. Consequently, he urged the state to act before the situation worsens further.
