Hyderabad: In a distinctive initiative, Dr. Rubina, a government physician posted at the 30-bed Vangara hospital in Hanumakonda district, is providing not only medical care but also health education through books and awareness sessions.
Appointed to the rural facility two years ago, Dr. Rubina has gone beyond routine consultations, focusing on educating patients particularly women about preventive health practices and lifestyle choices.
To address health ignorance in rural areas, she introduced accessible reading materials on nutrition, hygiene, and maternal care. Pregnant women and youth are key targets of this outreach, with sessions conducted regularly at the hospital to increase public engagement.
The initiative has reportedly improved footfall at the facility. Dr. Rubina said the aim is to instill lasting awareness, particularly among women who traditionally lack access to health information.
Her efforts have drawn recognition from both the state’s Chief Minister and the Health Minister, which she described as a moment of pride.
