Hyderabad: A 73-year-old man who allegedly subjected a minor girl to sexual harassment over a period of three years was arrested by Rachakonda SHE Teams, officials said on Wednesday, sending shockwaves across Telangana.
According to police sources, the elderly accused owned the house in which the girl’s family had been living as tenants. He reportedly took advantage of the times when the girl’s parents were away, targeting her with persistent harassment while maintaining a respectable front whenever they were present.
The girl, fed up with the constant abuse and frustrated that her parents didn’t believe her, decided to gather evidence on her own. One day, when the accused came to her house, she discreetly recorded his actions on her mobile phone. The disturbing footage left her parents stunned, prompting them to immediately approach the Rachakonda SHE Teams.
Police acted swiftly on the girl’s complaint, arresting the accused and producing him in court. He has since been remanded to judicial custody as investigations continue.
