HYDERABAD: The Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) has proposed a revision of the engineering curriculum to improve students’ employability skills. The Core Committee submitted its recommendations following discussions with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, focusing on aligning the syllabus with industry demands.
Need for an Industry-Integrated Curriculum
TSCHE Chairman Professor Balakrishna Reddy emphasised the importance of updating the curriculum to meet global job market requirements. He stated that the revised syllabus aims to equip students with the necessary skills to enhance their career prospects.
Under the new proposal, engineering students will be required to complete 160 credits by the sixth and seventh semesters.
Key Recommendations for Curriculum Changes
The proposed engineering syllabus revisions include:
- Uniform Credit Framework
- Strengthening Core Branches
- Industrial Internships
- Credit Flexibility and Transfer Policy
- Faculty and Student Exchange Programs
Professor Sriram Venkatesh, Secretary of TSCHE and Head of the Curriculum Review Committee highlighted the importance of maintaining a uniform credit structure across institutions.
The curriculum reforms aim to enhance technical education in Telangana and prepare students for competitive global employment opportunities.
