Hyderabad: The Telangana government has overhauled the fee structure policy for engineering and professional colleges, making performance the basis for any hike.
The Higher Education department announced that it will decide fee revisions after examining each institution’s audited accounts and academic standards. The government made it clear that hikes will no longer be granted uniformly or by default.
Officials said they will check student attendance data, the use of facial recognition for monitoring attendance, and the implementation of Aadhaar-linked digital fee payment systems before granting approvals.
Telangana links engineering fee hike to placements, research, and rankings
The new rules require colleges to show how they are encouraging students to take part in research and innovation. Authorities will also evaluate the quality of education, campus placements, and performance in national and international rankings.
The government stressed that compliance with state norms and regulations would play a major role in the review.
Only colleges that meet these standards will get permission to increase fees. By enforcing these rules, the government said it aims to ensure accountability and reward institutions that deliver strong results in Telangana’s technical and vocational education sector.
