Hyderabad: Telangana is positioning itself as a national leader in ethical innovation, said IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu on Wednesday at the inauguration of the Google Safety Engineering Centre (GSEC) in Hyderabad’s Hi-tech City.
Speaking at the event, Sridhar Babu said Telangana has transformed into a key destination for global capital and a model for inclusive digital governance. He credited the state’s progress to what he called the people-centric vision of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s government.
“Hyderabad is not just a city it is a vision of the future,” he said, highlighting that the city recorded ₹2.68 lakh crore in IT and ITeS exports in 2024–25 and generated over 40,000 new jobs. He noted that 7 of the world’s top 10 tech companies now operate out of Hyderabad.
He said the state’s next phase of growth dubbed “Safe Digital Telangana 2.0” would focus on responsible technology usage. Awareness programmes on safe internet practices are being introduced at the school level as part of this initiative.
The Minister described Google’s decision to establish Asia’s first GSEC in Hyderabad as both timely and essential in the current digital landscape. He said the centre will boost the global image of Hyderabad as a secure and innovation-driven tech hub.
Calling cybersecurity a pressing issue in the age of artificial intelligence, Sridhar Babu said the new centre would play a vital role in building digital awareness and user responsibility. He urged Google to extend these efforts to rural areas, where digital literacy remains limited.
He expressed confidence that the GSEC would grow into a global hub for security research and public education in internet safety, especially benefiting communities across Telangana.
