Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Thursday reaffirmed the Telangana government’s commitment to expanding solar power as a key pillar of the state’s energy strategy. He shared this vision during a meeting with a German delegation at the Secretariat.
The visiting representatives expressed interest in Telangana’s renewable energy initiatives and presented proposals for collaboration. Bhatti welcomed the engagement and outlined the government’s current efforts such as providing free electricity to 29 lakh agricultural pump sets and up to 200 units of free power through the Gruha Jyothi scheme.
New solar model aims to generate monthly income
Bhatti revealed that the government is exploring a new solar model. Under this initiative, both farmers and Gruha Jyothi beneficiaries could earn a regular monthly income. He stressed that this approach would promote energy self-sufficiency while creating economic opportunities.
Furthermore, he directed Energy Department Principal Secretary Naveen Mittal to assess how German solar technologies could fit into Telangana’s power ecosystem. He asked officials to evaluate both the feasibility and the potential advantages of the proposals.
Detailed report on proposals under way
Bhatti asked the principal secretary to compile a comprehensive report based on the submitted plans. Key officials at the meeting included Transco CMD D. Krishna Bhaskar, SPDCL CMD Musharraf Faruqui, REDCO CMD Anila, and German delegates Dr. Sebastian and Dr. Raghu Chaliganti.
