Hyderabad: The Telangana government has extended the tenure of 12,055 contract and outsourcing staff in the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department until March 31, 2026.

An official order issued this week confirmed the extension, covering fixed-tenure, contract, and outsourcing employees across the department.

For three straight months, staff went unpaid as service renewal delays brought salary disbursements to a halt, pushing many into financial stress. Now, with the government order finally issued, the Finance Department has released the funds, and the Panchayat Raj Department has wrapped up processing the pending payments.

Department officials said the pending wages are expected to be credited to employee accounts within the next two days.

The move brings major relief to thousands of families dependent on the extended workforce, which includes support staff playing a crucial role in rural infrastructure and administrative operations.
