Hyderabad: The Telangana government will fully reimburse tuition fees for students from government, Zilla Parishad, Gurukul, and Jawahar Navodaya schools who join diploma courses through the POLYCET entrance exam.
A government order issued by the Welfare Department’s Special Chief Secretary, Sridha, clarified that students securing ranks within the top 1,000 in POLYCET will also be granted full fee reimbursement, irrespective of school background. The move clears the logjam in the seat allotment process, which had been stalled for ten days.
As a result, the first round of allotments was released Tuesday, with 18,984 students securing seats, according to admissions convenor Sridevasena. Selected candidates must complete fee payment and online self-reporting by July 18. Physical reporting to colleges will be required only after the second round of counselling.
The government has raised the maximum permissible fee from ₹14,900 to ₹39,000, necessitating an updated reimbursement policy. While full reimbursement will apply to SC, ST, and minority students regardless of rank, others will be eligible for a maximum of ₹14,900.
Out of total seats, 10,012 remain vacant. All seats in five government and one private polytechnic college were filled in the first phase.
