Hyderabad: Telangana Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu said Hyderabad is setting national records in Global Capability Centre (GCC) growth, with 70 new centres launched in 2024–25 alone more than any other state. Speaking at the inauguration of Eli Lilly’s GCC in Gachibowli, he announced a new goal: 100 centres by 2025–26.
“Telangana is in a league of its own. Our only competition is ourselves,” Sridhar Babu said, outlining a detailed roadmap toward this milestone.
Highlighting Telangana’s strength in medtech, digital health, and AI in healthcare, he noted the state is uniquely integrating its industrial policy with platforms like the Telangana Data Exchange. With 300,000 STEM graduates produced annually and global-grade infrastructure like Genome Valley and Medtech Park, the state is preparing to roll out a new life sciences policy soon.
The minister said Telangana is working with intent to emerge as India’s medtech capital. He cited major global players already operating from the state Novartis, AstraZeneca, Medtronic and welcomed Eli Lilly as a valuable addition to the list. “With Eli Lilly joining, Telangana’s global medtech brand becomes even stronger,” he said.
He added that life sciences firms have leased over 11 million sq. ft. of lab and manufacturing space in Telangana the highest in the country a sign not just of scale, but of Telangana’s leadership in this domain.
Sridhar Babu said Eli Lilly’s GCC will focus on areas like AI-led drug discovery, cloud-based clinical platforms, and automated regulatory systems, and is expected to drive medtech innovation globally.
Inviting national and international firms to invest, he said, “We welcome you to be part of Rising Telangana.” He urged investors to leverage the state’s ecosystem and contribute to building the global future of medtech from Hyderabad.
