Hyderabad: Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma led the 79th Independence Day celebrations at Raj Bhavan on Friday, hoisting the national flag at the historic Durbar Hall.
After the ceremony, he addressed the gathering and extended greetings to the people of Telangana and citizens across India. He called Independence Day “a sacred occasion” and paid tribute to freedom fighters, especially Mahatma Gandhi. He praised Ahimsa and Satyagraha as timeless values that inspired India’s struggle.
Telangana Governor lauds national progress and armed forces
The Telangana Governor also spoke about national progress. He said India is on course to become the world’s third-largest economy. Highlighting Telangana’s achievements, he noted strides in irrigation, technology, AI, pharmaceuticals, and biotech.
Turning to national security, he lauded India’s armed forces and cited “Operation Sindoor” as proof of their strength. He said their courage continues to protect the nation’s unity and peace.
Following the speech, the Governor received a guard of honour. He greeted officers, police, staff, and security personnel. Later, he distributed sweets to Raj Bhavan employees.
Telangana Governor celebrates birthday alongside state ceremony
This year’s event also marked the Telangana Governor’s birthday. Guests, officials, and staff extended their wishes during the celebration.
Principal Secretary M. Dana Kishore, IAS, and senior officers attended the event. The Governor concluded the ceremony with personal interactions and formal thanks.
