Hyderabad: Government schools across Telangana are beginning to integrate artificial intelligence into classroom learning, as the state ramps up internet access in remote areas under its T-Fiber initiative.
Minister for IT and Industries D. Sridhar Babu’s vision of inclusive digital education is materialising, with AI-ready classrooms now functioning in villages like Adivasi Srirampur in Peddapalli district. High-speed internet has been extended to the local ZP High School, allowing students and teachers to access AI tools in real time.
Perplexity.ai, a free AI-powered search tool, is being used actively to support classroom instruction. Students are using the tool to ask questions, clarify concepts, and supplement lessons. The initiative has sparked enthusiasm among both staff and students many of whom had never previously used internet-based learning platforms.
T-Fiber Managing Director Venuprasad Panneru has been overseeing the deployment. He recently visited San Francisco to rally support from Telugu-origin tech entrepreneurs for expanded school connectivity as part of their CSR outreach.
Perplexity AI CEO Arvind Srinivas acknowledged the development on social media, calling it a “remarkable moment” that underscores the potential of AI in public education. He had earlier met Minister Sridhar Babu during the latter’s U.S. visit to discuss support for Telangana’s digital equity efforts.
The state plans to connect 26,000 remote schools with internet access, transforming the learning landscape for students in rural Telangana.
