HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has instructed officials to make immediate arrangements for issuing new ration cards to all eligible families across Telangana. He directed officials to expedite the verification of applications received through Gram Sabhas, the caste survey, and Mee Seva centres.
Reviewing the situation, the Chief Minister expressed concern over the increasing rush at Mee Seva centres for ration cards, despite the government having accepted applications multiple times. Officials informed him that many families were submitting applications repeatedly, contributing to overcrowding.
Emphasizing the need for a swift resolution, CM Revanth Reddy stated that such congestion could have been avoided if ration cards were issued immediately. He urged officials to take prompt action and appealed to applicants who have already submitted their forms to refrain from visiting Mee Seva centres again.
Given that the election code is currently in effect in several districts, the Chief Minister directed authorities to commence ration card distribution in districts where the code is not applicable. Once the election code is lifted, new ration cards will be issued across all districts.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister also reviewed multiple design proposals for the new ration cards prepared by the Civil Supplies Department.
