HYDERABAD: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Wednesday announced that the Telangana government has signed a ₹27,000 crore Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ACME Cleantech Solutions India (Acureus India) to generate 5,600 megawatts of green energy in the State.

The agreement, signed between the Telangana Renewable Energy Development Corporation and Acureus Energy along with GPRS Arya, marks a major step toward expanding the State’s renewable energy capacity. In addition, a separate ₹2,000 crore MoU was signed with GPRS Arya to implement biogas projects in 15 districts.

Speaking on the occasion, Bhatti Vikramarka said the government was prioritising sustainable development through green energy while also launching social welfare programmes focused on youth empowerment.

Earlier in the day, he convened a meeting with bankers and urged them to provide strong financial support for Rajiv Yuva Vikasam, which he described as a transformative initiative aimed at bridging the gap between youth and employment – a key concern that fuelled the Telangana statehood movement.

The Deputy CM emphasised that Rajiv Yuva Vikasam must not be treated like a routine loan scheme, but approached with a sense of social responsibility. He said the previous decade had failed to meet the employment expectations of the youth, and the Congress government was now addressing this through large-scale government recruitment drives and targeted employment-linked schemes.

He announced that ₹6,000 crore would be spent under Rajiv Yuva Vikasam, and appealed to banks to release ₹1,600 crore as linkage support. District Collectors will soon hold coordination meetings with banks to speed up implementation. Bhatti Vikramarka urged timely fund disbursal by banks following the release of the State’s share to ensure the success of the programme.
