Telangana Group-2 recruitment list cancelled after HC ruling

Hyderabad: The High Court scrapped the Telangana Group-2 recruitment list linked to the 2015–16 notification, stating that the Telangana State Public Service Commission ignored earlier court orders and overstepped its limits. Judges said TGPSC failed to follow clear rules during the evaluation phase, and they held that the existing list could not remain valid. Moreover, the court stressed that recruitment must stay transparent to protect the interests of all candidates.

Justice Nagesh Bheemappa reviewed several petitions that raised objections to the valuation process. During the hearing, he found extensive whitener marks and repeated corrections on many answer sheets. These signs, he said, pointed to clear tampering. Because of this, he ruled that such papers could not undergo evaluation in any fair system. He further added that these irregular steps weakened the credibility of the entire process. As a result, the bench instructed TGPSC to start a fresh assessment based on guidance from the technical committee.

Telangana Group-2 re-evaluation ordered for completion in eight weeks

The court directed TGPSC to complete the new verification work within eight weeks. After finishing the evaluation, the Commission must publish a fresh list of qualified candidates. This direction, the bench said, would help restore confidence in the recruitment system and ensure equal treatment for all aspirants.

TGPSC issued the Group-2 notification in 2015 and held the written exams in November 2016. Later, in 2019, the Commission began appointments. However, several candidates soon approached the High Court and claimed that the valuation included irregular and improper steps. They also argued that marks were awarded without consistent checks, which affected the fairness of the process. Their petitions sought judicial intervention to correct these issues.

After prolonged hearings, the court analysed answer sheets, committee notes, and earlier orders. Through this review, the bench concluded that the recruitment suffered from serious lapses. Following the judgment, many employees who joined through the earlier list now face uncertainty, as the new merit list may alter their status. The court asked TGPSC to follow strict rules so that each candidate receives a fair and clear evaluation during the re-checking stage.
