Hyderabad: Several districts in Telangana, including Hyderabad, witnessed heavy rainfall between Saturday night and Sunday morning. The rain caused waterlogging and slowed traffic in several areas. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for more rain over the next three days.
Rainfall hit key Hyderabad zones like Ameerpet, Panjagutta, Film Nagar, Khairatabad, Jubilee Hills, and Banjara Hills. Other affected areas included Yousufguda, Koti, Malakpet, Sultan Bazaar, Abids, Nampally, and Basheerbagh. Streets in Lakdikapul, Liberty, Himayatnagar, Narayanguda, Necklace Road, and Malkajgiri also saw water stagnation.
Eturunagaram in Mulugu district recorded the highest rainfall at 11 cm. Lingala in Khammam followed with 10 cm. Mugdampally in Sangareddy reported 9.8 cm. Poligudam, Medaram, and Pulkal also saw intense showers. Jangaon, Vikarabad, and Mahabubabad reported similar conditions.
IMD predicts more rain, issues alerts for Telangana districts
On Monday, the IMD expects thunderstorms with lightning in several areas. By Tuesday, rains may spread to Adilabad, Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, and Nizamabad. Rainfall is also likely in Mulugu, Khammam, Nalgonda, and Mahabubabad. Ranga Reddy, Hyderabad, and Medchal-Malkajgiri may also experience showers.
The forecast for Wednesday includes isolated heavy rain in Mulugu, Kothagudem, Nalgonda, and Hyderabad. Vikarabad, Mahabubnagar, and Nagarkurnool also face similar conditions. Authorities have issued yellow alerts across these districts.
IMD officials have urged citizens to stay alert and avoid waterlogged roads. Civic bodies are on standby to manage any emergencies. The state government has also directed local officials to monitor vulnerable areas.
