Hyderabad: In a significant verdict related to Bhu Bharati Act, the Telangana High Court has removed legal hurdles blocking the registration and regularisation of lands purchased through simple sale deeds. The verdict allows the settlement of nearly 9 lakh applications pending for six years.
On Tuesday, the court dismissed writ petitions challenging the process, giving the green signal for action under the new Act. Officials confirmed that all pending applications can now be processed without delay.
Bhu Bharati Act enables long-pending land settlement
In 2020, the government accepted applications under GO 112, receiving 2.26 lakh cases between October 10 and 29, followed by another 6.74 lakh applications. However, the ROR Act of 2020 did not include provisions for resolving simple sale deed cases, forcing the matter into court and halting proceedings.
Legal experts noted that earlier amendments to the 1971 ROR Act allowed such regularisation, but those clauses were removed in 2020. The fresh ruling confirms that under the Bhu Bharati Act 2025, settlements can move forward. Officials from the Revenue Department said the decision brings relief to thousands of applicants awaiting ownership rights.
